No More Rock on the River

I just finished washing a load of jeans in my fully functional washing machine. It feels so good to fix things. I was expecting a Lucy moment when I plugged it in and hooked up the water. But no. Purrs like a kitten and cleans like a tiger.
    Happy me.

    That darn Grace. . .

We had about 40 minutes of absolute deluge - but right across the highway, probably not 1/4 mile away, my best friend only had a sprinkle. I guess Tropical Storm Grace was just not very persistent - certainly wasn’t named after my child!

Was good. He sold out two nights at Gruene Hall at $22 a person which few artists can do. His covers of old rock songs were hit and miss - “Honky Tonk Women” done real slow was great but some others were just odd.

I have a magic weather rock. If I look out the window and it’s in shadow, it’s overcast. If it’s wet, it’s raining. Works like a champ. I think I’ll send one to the TV station.

Suddenly it’s a big night out. Casey’s going to see Cross Canadian Ragweed at the River Road Ice House. That’s a great venue for that band. And we just got a call offering some passes to go see Charlie Robison tonight at Gruene Hall. His wife is a Dixie Chick and her office, as Casey says, hooked us up. We saw him at the Americana Jam two years ago and it was wild. He sang two notes and people were holding up cigarette lighters. We’ll let you know how it is to see a whole show.

What a weird weather summer we’ve had. I believe, with mucho regret, we must cancel the Labor Day Hoot. The shark, if he wasn’t already dead, would be able to swim away tomorrow. In his current state of deadness though, he would just kind of float away. Inside the bar-b-que pit. With John holding on to it.

Looks like 1000% chance of heavy rain all day so let’s do it another weekend.

    Hello!

When we invited Grace to come over tomorrow, this isn’t what we meant, God!

    He takes things so literally.

Googlism If none of these “uke” hits make you laugh then ….sorry.

For those who haven’t played with this yet, try selecting “what” and typing in the weirdest word you can think of. Or any date. It’s all real web content, like a quick window into all the oddness that is the Internet. It’s obvious that it’s indexed in advance and it must have an algorithm for favoring strange words or combinations of nouns and other components (it loves “is”) before cutting out a phrase. Pretty geeky.

    Glenn comes up as:
glenn allan is on assignment for this issue of the sports page
glenn allan is the son of robert lloyd stinson and marion helena spratt

What to make of that? Hmmm.

Realander - my maiden name comes up as - realander is executive secretary

They didn’t “have enough information” about Lynne Realander or Lynne Allan for a googlism. I just don’t rate. :(

    Wagon of dreams.
Because it folds up. I can throw it in my car and move camping gear just like we did at blue hole! Of course, it doesn’t turn into a ladder.

    Maybe I need both!

Jim left a big package of chicken breasts sitting by the freezer. Just didn’t see them in the bag. Our dogs got them and, can you imagine that highest level of nirvana that Monks on the mountain top spend a lifetime trying to reach? Our dogs were there instantly.

Deirdre asked who’s at the bar and grill Sunday - Susan Gibson. Of all the shows we’ve ever seen there, she’s been one of the best.

Jimme says this is something she just has to have.

    Anybody seen anything better?

Renee, that is a Zenith Logo. Here’s an occurrence of it on a 1954 tabletop radio. That makes that lamp base a pretty unusual item.

I haven’t tried the photo silk paper but right on the package it shows it going onto a lamp shade. I bought it to put radio station and band logos on generic white mouse pads.

I think the Z in the Zenith logo always has a bit o’ the lightning bolt look going on. But I can’t think of anything else. That’s a great link. I like this one. Have you printed anything on the silk material? I like your idea.

Is that the Zenith logo? It’s cool, is it something somebody put together from parts or did Zenith make lamps? make your own shade parts
Or you can get a cheap white shade and I have some photo silk fabric that you can run through a printer. It’s real thin and made for applying images to things like lamp shades.
