Minidv tape is a bummer. I have tons of tapes of home movies and haven’t imported or edited any of it yet. I can’t wait until this direct to DVD concept gets a little further developed. Problem here is that the small DVD blanks cost $8 each. They’ll be 50 cents at some point in the future. I went to Best Buy to look at the unit and this first generation is too consumer/lightweight/all plastic to be cool. But Renee has that laptop with the DVD burner to master to and I keep thinking that one of these camcorders and that kind of high end laptop would be an awesome mobile video studio.

We could have a radio station, uploading MP3s to a folder and then, without giving away the MP3s, people in our group could browse through and listen to them from any computer. As long as they’re songs from albums we bought, that would be one step better in royalty terms because radio stations don’t buy the CDs they play. Who wants to do it??

The boys have that family crest that’s shown in the center there, hanging in their room.
If you look close you’ll see the amphicar in there. Maybe not. We took the boys to see Master And Commander and it was great. Many ships have been named after Abraham Whipple who became famous in the Revolutionary War for doing that same kind of crazy stuff as shown in the movie. Aunt Jill has always said it was a Whipple that fired the first shot. He was famous for fighting and capturing a much larger ship with more guns just like in the movie.
I never really thought about it much but the movie brought an image of that lifestyle to my mind.
At one point, he was the most wanted man in the world. Here’s his famous quote.
You, Abraham Whipple, on the 10th of June, 1772, burned His MajestyÂ’s vessel, the Gaspee, and I will hang you at the yard-arm. –James Wallace
Whipple replied
To Sir James Wallace, Sir:
It is customary to catch a man before you hang him. –Abraham Whipple
I’ve always had a great memory for lyrics, and the 80s was my musical generation. But it was scary how many I knew.
He has a wacky scoring system. Most are one point, but some are more or less depending on how hard he thought the question was, and how much he likes or dislikes the genera (He gave an Eagle’s lyric 10 points, and a white rap lyric 1/2 a point).
I think I had those leg-warmers…
They love to watch “I Love The 80′s” on VH1. The can test themselves to see if any of it’s sinking in.
That is a wonderful picture.
Chris was the exclusive photographer from our batch. I can only take credit for sorting and uploading
They had the best photo of the beautiful wedding couple. I’m working on the prints.
