40 Days and 40 Nights

Hawaii is getting pounded by massive rainstorms.

The photo above (taken from the news story) I recognize as Maggie and Tunji’s and my neighbor from when we all used to leave in Palolo Valley. That valley has gotten almost 5″ of rain in the last 24 hours…

It’s amazing that they landed it.

We saw the video of the NASA control center – I’ve never seen a room full of happier nerds.

Here comes Mars!

Tonight the Mars rover “Spirit” will land at about 10:35 Central. Nasa’s Mars Rover web sight may be choked with traffic, but it’s very entertaining.

I wanna meet Happy Jack. Or I wanna be Happy Jack.

Here’s two photos that Hillary just sent. These are from Kidwell Night at Casbeers.

“Oh Happy Day”

The joyful mantra of one Happy Jack, custom embroidery guy extraordinaire. I’m not sure if he is still at Capitol City Tattoo because he spends a lot of time at Ruta Maya Coffee House where he has a 25-30 year old industrial embroidery machine set up. I thought it was a way cool decorative antique amongst the art exhibit until he showed up and started whippin’ out monogrammed towels freehand. I was marvelling at his handiwork as he made bookmarks for some school age girls and was lucky enough to acquire one for myself. Check out his portfolio on his website; you never know when you may need some fine personalized embroidery.

Fireworks Popper. Excellent.

Another item to add to the very, very long list of what to love about Grace.

A new acolyte

My daughter has gone over to the dark side. Willy bought her quite a selection of combustibles for New Year’s Eve and they did not come inside until they were all gone. You have a new acolyte for the worship of pyrotechnics!
