FREE GUITAR WORKSHOP. He said on the radio this afternoon that it’s for those that play and those that don’t. Yet. Taught by Brad Davis, on behalf of Takamine Guitars. Starts at 7:00 pm but it looks pretty casual, like you could come in late. New Braunfels Museum of Art and Music in Gruene. This guy is buddies with Sam Bush and plays in Billy Bob Thornton’s rock band. He’s badass. He has a cool double-down-up speed picking technique that he teaches.

at The River Pub to see Eliza Gilkyson Sunday at 7:00. We’re talking about maybe bringing some grub and sitting down for an impromptu picnic at the little park by the river at 6:00. It’s right there on the other side of the fence where we swim. Anyone who wants to see a great free concert is welcome. Come at 6:00 if you want to eat a hot dog.

Free Photo Hosting Service

PhotoBucket lets you store 100 megs worth of photos for free. Does a slideshow and the whole thing. I don’t know if there are any better services out there, this one looks a little clunky but it’s incredibly easy to setup and use. I uploaded some photos here It gives each photo it’s own URL so you can link to it for other purposes. Like eBay or something. If you want to see the interface where you enter photos, the password is amphicar.

Good Lookin’ Sibs

Casey spent the day with Taylor – took him for a haircut and bought him new duds. When they were done they looked like this:

and off they went to have dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and see Forty Second Street at the Majestic together.
Casey just called during intermission, and they’re having a great time.

Jessie had to stay home.

You Might Be A Redneck Jedi if . . .

June 3rd, 2004 @ 14:58

You ever heard the phrase, “May the force be with y’all.”

Your Jedi robe is camouflage.

You have ever used your light saber to open a bottle of Bud Light.

At least one wing of your X-Wing is primer colored.

You can easily describe the taste of an Ewok.

You have ever had a land-speeder up on blocks in your yard.

The worst part of spending time on Dagobah is the dadgum skeeters.

Wookies are offended by your B.O.

You have ever used the force to get yourself another beer so you didn’t have to wait for a commercial.

You have ever used the force in conjunction with fishing/bowling.

Your father has ever said to you, “Shoot, son come on over to the dark side…it’ll be a hoot.”

You have ever had your R-2 unit use its self-defense electro-shock thingy to get the barbecue grill to light.

You have a confederate flag painted on the hood of your land-speeder.

You ever fantasized about Princess Leia wearing Daisy Duke shorts.

You have the doors of your X-wing welded shut and you have to get in through the window.

Although you had to kill him, you kinda thought that Jabba the Hutt had a pretty good handle on how to treat his women.

You have a cousin who bears a strong resemblance to Chewbacca.

You suggested that they outfit the Millennium Falcon with redwood deck.

You were the only person drinking Jack Daniels during the cantina scene.

If you hear . . . “Luke, I am your father…and your uncle.”

Got Crabs?

June 1st, 2004 @ 21:53

We’re really looking forward to taking everyone crabbing while we’re down at Rockport. Kids LOVE it. We have a bunch of crab nets and we just got a big crab trap. We’ll be optimistic and promise a giant crab/shrimp boil on Sunday afternoon. This article sez “Crabbing – An Adventure For Everyone”. And this is a nice site on Texas Crabs.

JT Van Zandt at Kerrville

June 1st, 2004 @ 13:47
Posted by: John

I got this email this afternoon. Makes you want to throw the tent in the car and go to the Folk Festival. We have never been sorry we went but we have been sorry we didn’t.

“re the show Sunday night…Kerrville should just close its doors after tonight, it is never going to be any better. And as a veteran staff member said with awe, no one had ever seen the audience so quiet as it was for JT’s set. JT Van Zandt began and Shake Russell ended the night with a tribute to John Vandiver. Vince Bell, Steven Fromholz, Eric Taylor, Willis Alan Ramsey in between…

…not bad for a bunch a Texans.”
