Million Dollar Baby

Warner Bros. – Million Dollar Baby wow what a great movie, Evan was complaining he wouldn’t like it but dad talked him into it as usual (Evan was close to tears by the end of the movie) so now dad has a 1 to 100 ratio of being right about movies Evan would like.

The Woodzie Special

A planned effort to create an engine and a 3 car railroad train on hard rubber tires using salvage volkswagen parts. It is in the “idea” stage right now although it has been on my mind for years.

I thought the Whippleworld blogger would be an excellent tool to get enough people involved to make it happen. All thoughts are appreciated and very well
may be the character or utility we want to create.

Having experience with the one up at Natural Bridge Caverns, I will lay out a plan and we see how it goes. I understand it is in need of repair and is for sale.
It is 50 years old and powered by a 1937 Ford 60hp V8 which wasn’t a real good choise even back then. The engine was painted green with 24 head stud acorn nuts in orange It looked groovey! I overhauled that engine in about 1957 when it ran in Brackenridge park.. The train is on hard rubber tires from a feed dolly factory in Mississippi and require a smooth surface to roll easy.

I was thinking more of using Volkswagen hubs and wheels and having them hard rubber filled to run on dirt and gravel. Also a diesel engine and automatic transmission turned around backward and reverse the ring gear into the mock coal car area leaving the whole front for storage and barbeque pit.

Lots of possibilities.

THE THOUGHT PROJECT

My Vacuum is Always Missing

Because Casey uses it at her house, too. So I decided to buy a new one and give her the old one. My choice?
Eureka – Boss SE Bagless Upright Vacuum with Spin Duster – Intense Blue Fleck – 5855BZ

I’m going to pick it up at Best Buy – only cost $119.
My old vac is a Eureka WhirlWind Lite. It works great, really sucks, picks up legos and dog hair equally well, and hasn’t broken yet (Lord knows I’ve tried). The new one has a larger dust cup (3.5 qts vs 1 qt) and a powered cleaning head attachment for under and on sofas. The Spin Duster looks cool too – I already use an electrostatic duster and it will be nice to clean it with the machine instead of shaking it out the door.
I wanted a Dyson Animal but I figured if I spent $500 on a vacuum I would be expected to use it more than I want to.

Nuke wh choc & butter together to melt and blend – cool to room temp
Beat eggs, sugar, & vanilla on med speed til thickened & pale (3 min)
On low, gradually beat in choc mixture
Sift flour, baking powder, & salt together – beat into choc mixture til combined

Enjoy!

I received my Literacy Link Newsletter this morning and my mug was in there! I thought Ann-Mom in particular would get a kick out of it.

Someone asked how to become a volunteer (John Leslie?). Literacy Link Leamos is associated with ProLiteracy America. Here’s a link to locate a program in your area.
