Disco Crap

I (somehow) lived through the seventies without seeing this amazing music video by a disco band from Denmark (featuring Tommy Seebach) covering The Shadows’ “Apache“. It may be the worst Danish Disco music video ever made. Or the only one. It was bad enough to be remixed by Jimmy Eat World for their own purposes.

Here’s a new puppy slideshow. Here’s the one from the night they were born.

Can Gene Simmons reach the bottom of the peanut butter jar? Loretta Lynne Whipple thinks not. Check out the size of those paws.

Mother’s Day

We’ve had hoots the last several years for the day of the Mother. That’s what my Mom and my kid’s Mom both say they want to do. We’re talking about doing it up here but it could be anywhere – what’s everybody doing this Sunday?

PERHAPS THE BEST DRINKING STORY EVER TOLD!

Well, maybe not…but that’s what the subject line said on the email my friend, DellAnne, sent me. Pretty funny, though!

Recently, a routine police patrol was parked outside a local neighborhood bar in Minnesota.

Late in the evening, the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely walk. The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes with the officer quietly watching.

After what seemed an eternity and trying his keys on five different vehicles, the man managed to find his own car which he fell into. He was there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally, he started his car, switched the wipers on and off (it was a dry night), flicked the hazard flasher on and off, tooted the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained stationary for a few more minutes as more patrons left in their vehicles.

At last he pulled out of the parking lot and started to drive slowly down the street. The police officer having patiently waited all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and carried out a breathalyser test.

To his amazement the breathalyser indicated no evidence that the man consumed alcohol at all!

Dumbfounded, the officer said “I’ll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyser equipment must be broken.”

“I doubt it,” said the man. “Tonight I’m the designated decoy.”

Blog Bloat :)

As a blogger (or lurker), are you noticing that every feature is an additional burden on your bandwidth? We can’t see what everyone else sees, our only reference is that on our Roadrunner account, everything still pops up instantly. BUT if the Blog is becoming too slow for dailup, we’re going to have to set a limit on the bells and whistles. I do think that we need to consider these two new features: Blogrolling which will, they claim, allow anyone in the group to add a website link to the links section with one click. Tall order – we’ll see. And, possibly the solution to the feature requested by Deirdre, this RadioBlog audio player for the recordings that Chris makes at the hoots. Should we try these add-ons? And “Who wants to help sow the seed?” asked the little red hen. :)

martial arts video. This is another experiment, it’s compressed from 40 megs down to 1.5 megs for dailup streaming using Sorenson Squeeze. It has a “lighter” effect that I should have used. If nothing else, skip to the end to see the pup with one ear up.

often gets pushed to the bottom, in the past it’s always been by photos that are too wide. This time, it seems to be being caused by something else and I haven’t figured it out yet. Anybody want to take a crack at it?
