Getting ready to carve our pumpkin,

I was looking for ideas and found this Halloween site called “Extreme Pumpkins“. I liked the sound of that from the git go. It’s gets better, it’s pyro pumpkins. You gotta watch the video. But there’s lots of other good stuff in there like this “pumpkin eating another pumpkin“. I gather that the guy’s dream is to do a pumpkin carving segment on the Martha Stewart Show. It’s important to aim high in life!

Taylor and I spent the afternoon filling three big garbage cans with stuff our “teenage” dogs had chewed and scattered over an acre. Happens every couple of days….. BUT the “A boy and his dog” moments like this are one of the things that make it worth it.

You can tell by the size of it’s feet that it’s going to be a big one. And I mean Evan.

as much as Casey did this one. And probably my personal favorite from all our kid’s Halloween git ups over the last 23 years. Although, because Jimmie made most of them, they’ve all been good. But this year Casey was the princess of Gruene, Texas.

And here’s the link to a blog search on the word “Halloween“.

at your fonts. Jack the size up at both places where it shows a + and - control so you can REALLY see ‘em. Take a look at what you have loaded - you might be surprised what’s in there. Works great and you don’t have to install any program, it all happens online. Lots of uses. If you’re on a computer other than your own, you could come to this post, click that link and see what fonts you have to work with. If there’s some good freeware fonts you don’t have, you could email them to yourself to load on your computer.

I tried it three times and it worked each time. Magic.

And here’s what’s new down on the farm. Must be the farmhouse that got Jimmie’s Ann Taylor catalog.

And check this animation out, it’s somewhat seemless so if you tile it as a background the little guys move from one side of the screen to the other.

I was plugging the Flavorwave in to cook the fish we caught and I guess the plug was wet because it sparked at the outlet. Now…. dead. I’m going to order another this weekend - once you have one, you just can’t live without it.

I like this guy’s style. Here’s his practical research on “how much is in it?”. The keg one is funny. Also play by play on pranks he’s pulled and incredible stuff he’s made. It’s entertaining - somehow reminds me of that guy on “Good Eats”.

because it is so simple in comparison to the instructional design model I am currently working with, or if it’s cool on its own: check out the demos here.

Basically they provide media without any kind of player and that does not require any kind of download or caching. You just click on it and it’s there. For instructional design we like it purely for accessibility issues. But for many organizations their big concern is security and, apparently, this is so secure that the Navy is using them. Anyway, I think it’s exciting.

How to download photos from flickr

I mentioned it, thought I’d better show how to do it. Not just for the recent party photos but for any photos that are up there from the past or photos that you put into your own account. This is one of the coolest features of flickr but you DO have to have and be logged into a flikr account for it to be active. But accounts take 45 seconds to setup if you don’t already have one. Click directly on these small instructions to see them enlarged were it’s readable.

from Taylor’s 16th Birthday Party. Here’s a slideshow. Here’s the link to the photos themselves. If there’s one of you up there that you like, you can download it directly from flickr if you have one of their free accounts. And not just in low res, but in your choice of several sizes including a large, printable size.

Although I didn’t notice it at the time, I see from the photos that Will and Jonah were both wearing the Woodzie t-shirts that Deirdre made for them. Pretty cool.
