Low-Cost Laptops for Kids in Need

Not sure if you guys have heard this already, but there has been quite a bit of coverage about this project. It’s pretty cool, though I still don’t quite understand where and how does the wireless internet part will work for the kids. Cool project, and it’s cute and cool looking too.

I don’t know if you get Hillary’s baby photo emails, but this was a really nice one. I recognize the tennis shoe, that’s Taylor who has stopped pushing and, in order to get him going again, is being radiated with concentrated cute.

They’re good – the guy knows how to do that “soft water” trick using a slow exposure. Nothing’s moving except the water so it blurs. The way the flash interface loads and resizes so smoothly is very cool. You switch topics with the right and left arrows at the top of the right hand box. And now for something totally different.. I saw another flash thing that’s really amazing, here’s the Sega game console game “Sonic The Hedgehog” recreated in flash.

This service has gotten a whole lot better since the last time it was mentioned. Like flikr is a community for photos, this is a way to store and share links. A big improvement happened recently with this “add with one click” Firefox extension and this way to import some or all of your existing bookmarks. Try getting an account, it’s free. I started a separate account last year for everyone to share, take a look at it here. If you want to add links to it, email me for the password.

Randy stumbled upon this artist’s website: Joe Ledbetter.

If you like his stuff, check out this animation, Joy Comes in the Morning. We had a great laugh and were in awe of the creativity and execution. The music inspired us to check out this website: Xploding Plastix.

We’ll be up at Wimberley Market Days Saturday

Drive up if you’re not doing anything else. It’s a lot of fun. A wild mix of antiques, homemade arts and crafts and junk. It’s acres and acres of stuff. Very upscale – no goats or chickens.

It’s going to be a gorgeous day in the Texas Hill Country. Here’s a map, here’s a map to Market Days and you’ll find Evan selling stuff in booth 160. :)

I copied this line from their website: “If you have never attended a Market Day in Wimberley, you have a treat in store. Reminiscent of a Roman bazaar.” What?!? What a bazaar word to use. I think they were trying so hard to distance themselves from the word “fleamarket” that they came all the way around and backed into it.

This’ll keep you in stitches

When Evan got his stitches from the dog bite, I asked his Doctor whether or not kids staying inside so much caused him to have to sew fewer stitches these days. He said dramatically fewer.
This is why.
