    Speaker for the Dead

Has anyone read this book? Tyler gave me the first book of the series, Ender’s Game. This is the 2nd book book in the trilogy but you could read it as a stand-alone. Something about it makes me think the folks over at Blog of Death have read this book.

going to Schlitterbahn this summer? Still #1 water park in the world. We drive by the front gates everyday, I’m so amazed that the kids haven’t been screaming to go.

are you as glad it’s a big Friday before a long weekend as these guys are? Probably not, right? Maybe we’re almost there….. it’d be a shame if we were all just one banana hat and a carrot pan flute short of nirvana. Just unwilling to go that extra step.

When Jimmie and I are all in Taylor and Evan’s face about eating more fruits and vegetables, I think this is how they see us. Anyway, I’m going to send them Glenn and Kim’s open mic website link. We need ‘em out there, they’re our kind of vegetables.

Remember learning to tie your shoes? The fox chases the rabbit?

Well if you just let them run in two circles before pulling the loop through the center, your shoes will stay tied all day, then come undone with that familiar tug on the string ends.

    Like so.

How did I raise three kids without knowing this? Someone at work recommended it. Excellent!!

I know you love optical illusions. In reality, this just plays the same 10 frames over and over but if you stare at it, it seems to constantly change. As soon as you pick a different dot to focus on, the arms change. What direction is it going? Soften your focus (helps to get really close to the screen and then backup) and it really goes crazy.

has indexed the links to 900 full length cartoons from YouTube. Futurama, South Park, some Adult Swim and lots of other newer stuff but scroll down to the T’s and check out some of the Tex Avery cartoons. That’s the master right there, where else could you find a huge collection like this? I don’t know if it streams for you, but YouTube video plays instantly on RoadRunner. Having broadband yourself iis just part of what it takes, the server the video is playing from has to have lots of headroom. YouTube seems to work great for video on demand.

How Stuff Is Made. “HSIM”. They don’t quite have it together yet but they’re trying to be like a wikipedia where people contribute but just on the specific topic of how popular items are manufactured. Taylor, look at the one that shows how Jelly Belly jelly beans are made. And fortune cookies, lots of interesting stuff. Here’s Taylor Guitars.

    Granitas.

    Granitas72.jpg

here’s the quick simple and really easy recipe.

    6 lemons

    6 oranges

    sugar(lots)

Cut off one quarter of each lemon and orange on one side and the tips on the other side (make sure there are no holes, these are to be cups but you want them to stand) gut the fruit and empty into two separate bowls. Strain them, getting as much juice as possible, and put in sugar until it’s to your favor of sweetness. Put the empty fruit skins into the freezer and the same with the juice, leave until completely frozen, then scrap the frozen juice with spatula or spoon and fill the fruit cups with said juice. Eat and enjoy, you’ll probably have extra juice, refill as much as you want.

There’s too much concrete surface in this world and not enough grassy areas where rainwater can seep slowly back into the earth. That causes problems like flooding in cities and also the very serious condition of concentrated ugliness.

Salaverde is a product aimed at solving this problem with pavers made of recycled plastic that actually enourage the grass to grow on through.

Busy in the best of ways here at the studio… in fact, I’m actually quitting cigarettes solely in the hopes that the energy boost I hear about will help me keep up. Of course, on the other hand, I might just become totally manic and lose focus, but it’s an interesting experiment. It’s funny, but by turning it into brain science, it’s almost fun.

I have a new thing that some of the whipple extended family might dig, so I thought I’d send you a link:

It’s kind of a fun idea for dinner parties, etc.

    Bueno,
