    Flatstock 2007

time for the Flatstock music promotional poster art show. Other than going to see a band or two, this is what we do for SXSW each year. It’s the best thing there. And it’s free. It’s partially put on by the American Poster Institute and by Gigposter.com. Dig around in the Gigposter website, that’s the stuff you’ll see on display and for sale. It’s the real pop art of the streets.

When I came home from work there was no one home, John took Evan to work with him. So I went up to the Woodzie site and cleared some brush. I had bought a new ratcheting pruner at Big Lots:

And I like to use energy efficient products. But I’m picky about light quality. I like halogen most, but it gets so hot.
Anyway there’s news of new energy efficient hologens, and unless they cost too much, that’s the way I’d like to go.

I emailed Don to thank him because I just happened to run across my new favorite desktop wallpaper on this part of his site. I actually didn’t see the tape recorder first, I saw this one that looks a little at a passing glance like our house on Glendora and the old camper of Dad’s. If you read Don’s description here you don’t have to wonder why I wanted to email in agreement.

My desktop looks groovy now. :)

I installed Sony Vegas 7 on the computer so you’re ready to edit. This site offers to let you practice cutting with their edit friendly raw footage. They intend it to be practice in the art of film editing for people with your interests. You can go there and look at what different editors did with the same footage. Extreme closeup, establishing shot.. you need to start learning what’s what. Robert Rodriquez said his success came less from being a good director and more from being a good editor. Pop El Mariachi into the DVD player again and focus on the transitions and you’ll see that that movie is just like this very simple clip, the feeling of action is created by the editing style as much or more than anything else.

Yeah, it works. Here’s a feed of our comments

The idea is to be able to share these widgets. Like anybody can download their little free program and then hit “get the widget” right above here and have this feed to paste into their website or on their desktop. Or maybe you don’t need the download. Click on “get The Widget” and see what happens.

Some young people figured out that they could use a ringtone of frequencies higher than old people can hear. Are you old? Let’s find out. Can you hear this? Of course we’d have to know that your speakers aren’t dropping off after 15,000 hertz. But…. few if any of us post 30’s people can hear a 17,000 cycle per second sound. We should get a discount on our home stereo equipment.
