The kids are out huntin’ down Halloween candy right now

What you see them holding are pillow cases. They’re on a mission to fill them with candy. Evan made up his character; “Rolling Stones Zombie”. Taylor is a vampire, it doesn’t look like much until he looks you in the eye and then opens his mouth – he has a set of very, very realistic fangs and it’s a shock to see them. And of course he sells it by how he presents it. Jessie and Ryoko are some kind of Japanese cartoon characters. Take my word for it, the know exactly what character they are. I know enough not to get trapped into a 10 minute explanation by asking. Jessie’s wearing what immediately struck me as an Elizabeth Taylor wig. Which is pretty scary. Taylor didn’t go last year, felt he was too old, but he came out of retirement because it’s just such a perfect night to slink around the neighborhood getting free stuff. I was surprised that once they decided to go they were able to pull these getups and makeup together in an hour. They truly look like a little band of wandering undead. Who just happen to have pillow cases for candy carrying.

We didn’t have as many trick-or-treaters as we usually do and there seemed to be fewer folks giving out candy in our neighborhood. But Jonah had a pretty decent haul, considering. Grace took him around and he told people, “Trick or Treat! I’m Batman!”. He wasn’t very interested in having his photo taken but I’ll try to post some soon.
