So sorry to hear about “Jane Meyers Puttnam” passing. . . .

Thank you for the phone call. . . .She would be my first cousin and about Myrtle Booe’a age and a few years older than my Sister Jill. She was the librarian at Berkley for many years. She wrote my Mother very regularly and kept us posted on our West Coast family members. Her mother Katherine or “Katz” as she was called was

this sure got people goin’

specially the members of the family and friends group who play scrabble… by the rules. I’m sure Jimmie, Kim, Deirdre, Lynne et al looked at it with a Scrabble player’s suspicious eye. It sure has gone through a ton of people for the list to get as long as it is. It got to us at the Maggie level and then I think it got a huge boost when instead of just ten people, Jimmie sent it to a bunch on her mailing list. So it’s passing through 30 Whippleworld email inboxes like a green chili bean burrito from the 7-11.

Everything you need to know about money

condensed and handwritten onto the backs of five business cards. That’s what they offer at the very excellent The Simple Dollar website. Cards 2 and 5 are particularly smart. Each of those points are fleshed out at their website. Putting this here for Taylor because it’s geared for young people and I think he’ll like it. A bank cold called him off the list of people who recently turned 18 and took his application over the phone and he got his first credit card in the mail a couple of weeks ago. His credit history began being marked down in the big book that very day. Good luck, boy! :)

Here’s “stuff” from recent bookmarks. I like to do this every little while and hope there’s at least one thing of interest to each person.

* This is really cool. With the built in webcams on most laptops you can log in here and setup in a few mouse clicks to broadcast to hundreds of viewers at a time using bandwidth this company provides for free. This is something you couldn’t easy do until now. We could send a mirror feed of the Woodzie video to that service and let the unknown members of the MySpace crowd watch from there. If you go look at it now, Santa Claus has a video feed streaming. He’s reading emails and just said “Merry Christmas Lumpy! It’s hilarious * I’m getting ready to try ordering
eyeglasses online. Do you think it will work? This guy says that even though it sounds risky it’s one of the best ways to save. He breaks his experience down to specifics. * Put a photo on the cover of Time, Vogue, Rolling Stone etc. * They say this is the best Scrabble game. It’s run by Scrabble freaks and you play against other players of your level around the country. Kinda like WarHammer for geeks. * Type anything into this window and your computer will sing the words back to you. * This one will give it back to you as a regular voice in an MP3 that you can send in an email. We’re seen others like this but this one works perfectly. * This site breaks down the clauses of a record contract. * This page is from Cornell University and has all the real info on copyright lengths. Everybody’s always confused about it. I’m not sure this chart will cure that but at least the info is actually presented there in it’s entirety. * This site is about how to understand royalty statements. It’s geared to book publishing but most of it also applies directly to music publishing royalty statements. Guess nobody cares enough about songwriters to put up a page for them. * How to make a real functioning speaker out of legos and a dixie cup. * A recipe for a very quick and easy “no bake” pizza. See photo above, looks great.

Forget Driving Try Flying

Well I’m not going to Oklahoma this weekend after all. Somehow I managed to con Sean into flying down here for the weekend. We agreed to split the cost of the ticket. It would have cost me at least $120 in gas to go see him and $200 for him to drive down here. So when you take a $300 plane ticket subtract the gas you would have spent and consider the 14 hours of not having to drive it turns out to be a good idea. Plus it gives us an extra day together. Yeah! I’m excited. I haven’t seen Sean since Aunt Dallas’ funeral. I’m looking forward to seeing him in happier circumstances. I love him very very much.

Superman Dies! . . . . .Evel’s last “space trip” ride

Legendary daredevil Evel Knievel dies: Clearwater, FL (Sports Network) – Legendary motorcycle daredevil Robert “Evel” Knievel died Friday at age 69.

Knievel was famous for his entertaining motorcycle jumps and his 1974 attempt to jump over Idaho’s Snake River Canyon in a rocket-propelled device called Skycycle X-2. He reportedly suffered almost 40 broken bones during his career before retiring in 1980. Knievel had been ill for
