San Antonio Junior League Rummage Sale This Weekend

We’ve all been there, right? Biggest garage sale in SA, part of growing up here. We used to all go together but we haven’t done that in a long while. Kinda got too uppity - like after they started charging $55 to go to the opening night. Remember “The French Room”? But, just for old time’s sake, here’s the info for this year. The logo is lame-o.

Did you have a good “leap day”?

I guess all the babies born today are going to have to figure out the birthday party scheduling issues.

I got a scanner working again so I scanned a couple of things from the pile of Dallas’ photos Jack gave us. That’s where those old photo scans below came from. Jimmie had asked that I put this clipping up, I just hadn’t been able to do it until now. Means a lot to her that her Mom and Sissy saved it for almost fifty years

I’m not superstitious but just to be odd ball I thought about skipping 13 and going from 12 to 14 like they skip the 13th floor in skyscrapers. Anyway the party is a week from tomorrow. If you want to come, please let me know and I’ll have some VIP tickets waiting at the door. If you have friends or co-workers who want to go just email me their names. It’ll be fun. Here’s some photos from last year….

doesn’t even pretend to float, it just skips right to sinking part. And in addition to being a submarine I guess it drives itself… not sure why you’d want to pay one and half million dollars for either of those two mostly useless features. The original $2,900 amphicar will never be beat. Kept you dry 19 out of 20 times.

    article in the Economist Magazine.

“In 2006 EMI invited some teenagers into its headquarters in London to talk to its top managers about their listening habits. At the end of the session the EMI bosses thanked them for their comments and told them to help themselves to a big pile of CDs sitting on a table. But none of the teens took any of the CDs, even though they were free. “That was the moment we realized the game was completely up”.

the lottery for the wristbands starts today. The Interactive media part of SXSW that John Unger is coming down for actually starts on the same day as the Tejas party. The music part starts in the next week. I think it can be a great thing to go to and it’s right here in our own backyard.

    The lunar eclipse!

It’s TONIGHT! Here’s a cut and paste from the SpaceWeather website: “Red isn’t the only color to look for when the Moon glides through Earth’s shadow. Observers of several recent lunar eclipses have reported a flash of turquoise. For example, note the upper left corner of this photo taken by Jens Hackmann.

The source of the turquoise is ozone. Earth’s ozone layer absorbs red sunlight while allowing blue rays to
