I love this; it reminds me about how Jimmie taught me to let kids do things like - use real scissors. Of course, I still have a lot of over-protective moments but I’m a work in progress! And, in comparison to how paranoid I was about Grace’s safety, Jonah is practically Evel Knievel.
My biggest concern with Jonah is actually a fear that he will hurt someone else because he’s just so big. He is actually very sweet and gentle but he just doesn’t realize his strength or the impact he can have. He has one little classmate who is just so tiny that he has inadvertently knocked him over just by brushing up against him.

I’ve let the kids build fires and learn to use knives and drive cars sitting on my lap but my fear is them being hit by cars or in car accidents. That’s my week point. I’m terrified of it. BUT I feel good on this topic right now… Evan just called and he and his buddy Matt are riding bicycles all through Landa Park. After dark. They’re just out there on their own riding around the circle in downtown New Braunfels. And I’m not worried. I guess it would be more impressive if he was 8 and I wasn’t worried and not 14. But you do what you can do.
