I see one I recognize. I used to take Jimmie on dates to this one on Farm To Market 78 down the road from Randolf Air Force Base. After being at the art shop we’d often end up down there, it was a great drive-in.

I remember it. . . .It became Jack & Jill’s Used Cars in the mid 70’s. While growing up theaters were an important part life and we learned where they were and their advertising space took up several pages in the newspaper. We had about 8 drive-in, 7 downtown, and 12 neighborhood theaters.
I was 8 years old when I got to Texas and I think at that time it was standard procedure for all kids to see a show once a week.
The first drive-in theater in San Antonio was the Alamo on the old Austin highway. The speakers were in a hole under the car covered by a steel grille and it was hard to hear.We kids usually sat in bench seats up by the screen while our parents smooched and stuff. . . .Can you believe that they would do such a thing?
