The Flying Colors in 1973

Yesterday my mom sent this photo from her Braniff days. I actually have the skirt she’s wearing, this was their Pucci outfit which they used varieties of till 1977 when they switched to the Halston uniforms which were cream and brown polyester that had tiny little “H”s all over them. I have those shirts still and I think Haley has one of the Halston dresses. But I’ve been looking up lots of Braniff stuff lately trying to find old pictures of mama but she found one before me. So she is on the back row the second beauty on the left. Hmmm maybe I can find the top and be a flight attendant for Halloween…

That is awesome, the 60’s were just so cool. Love the shoes.

I was also most impressed by the coordinating shoes. You know, I’m pretty sure I remember Momma having a very similar outfit!
Robbie does totally have the beauty queen smile going on.

They were having a Mad Men TV show marathon and Jimmie had me watch a little of it - anybody into that show? Captures the 60’s perfectly. It’s an ad agency and Braniff would certainly fit in as one of their “boys club” accounts.
Braniff was so 1960’s Texas. Southwest Airlines had the mini skirted hot babe stewardesses but they didn’t make that up, they were just copying Braniff. Braniff wrote that song and Southwest copied it note for note.
What I started to comment on was to say that that picture says “space race”. Do you see that? Somehow has an underlying feel like they could be going to the moon. Right? It’s what was on everybody’s mind then and the essence of it was in fashion and colors and architecture. What do we have now that’s as cool a theme as that?
