    • John Whipple Sr. : :D A couple of days in the mountains never hurt anybody!
    • Malcolm : My favorites so far are sings, plays, hugs and teases.
    • John : I like it. I'd be embarrassed to admit what words I tried but it did all of them. Of all the clean words, Eat and Ride were funny.
    • Sylvia : Hey Whipple, what's up? I enjoy your blog. I'll contribute this link, tell me if you like it!! «link»
    • Art : got you email John, we'll come to one of those shows. don't drop me off your mailing list
    • John : Hey Mia... how've you been?
    • Guest_2259 : Hi
    • John : Jimmie and I are playing at Gig On The Strip on St. Marys Street in San Antonio at 8:30 tonight. Come see us if you can.
    • John : you, too. We all wish you the best!!
    • Guest_1012 : Thank you. I needed calming words... good luck, may you be blessed.
    • John : I feel for ya. I've had my kids get sudden wild rashes from head to toe and weird infections and delirious fevers; it's the scariest thing there is. BUT they ended up being fine every time. I bet that's what will happen with your daughter. A week from now it'll be in the rear view mirror.
    • Guest_1012 : srub her down real good with antibiotic soap... etc
    • Guest_1012 : we are to watch her and take her in immediately if there is another boil
    • Guest_1012 : she developed large boils, pink eye, sores on her mouth... taking anti-biotics now
    • John : what did they say?
    • Guest_1012 : thanks for the feedback, she went to the doctor today
    • John : No, I wasn't at Krause Spings. If your kid has an infected area get her to a doctor right away. They can tell pretty quick. It's probably not what you fear but any infection can get serious really fast.
    • Guest_1012 : were you there? At Krouse Springs ?
    • Guest_1012 : sorry, I just landed on this website by doing a search on Krouse Springs and MRSA... took my daughters camping two weeks ago and now my littlest one is showing signs... I'm kind of scared
    • Guest_1012 : John, do you know how you got MRSA?
    • Jessica : sounds like a good gig. A martini crowd = big tippers.
    • Steve : We're a little far but I'd come see a hot shot entrepreneur like you playing for tips. you'll probably franchise it. :D
    • John : That was quick...we found a great place to play. It's The Green Onion just a few miles from the house - actually on the same road Oma's is on. It's a moderately upscale restaurant kinda geared for the wine lover crowd. They have a narrow little martini bar at the side and that's where we'll be most every Saturday playing for tips and payin' our dues. For a while. We're gonna start the week after Labor Day.
    • John : can't kick me out of the band... I own the P.A.
    • John : Here's the deal... the guitar playing is OK and the songs are good and Jimmie's vocals are fantastic - what needs real work is getting more singing experience for me and for Jimmie and I to get our timing tight. And to memorize all the lyrics. It just takes repetition, I think it's doable. I don't know that I'll ever be consistently on pitch but if I can keep getting better and then you cost average my below average together with Jimmie's way above average... hey, it could be a bargain.
    • John : Yep, the big stage once a year. That ain't cuttin' it. Now, we're lucky to have our every Thursday thing but we're mostly doing that to help everybody. And we play most Sundays but those things are all 30 minutes or so. We need a good healthy, low paying, long and grueling gig in front of strangers to work out our performance. So we can sink or swim each night until we can swim every time.
    • Art : ... you have a steady gig at The Woodzie, right?
    • Art : I hear nothing but good things about you and Jimmie. Seems like there would be plenty of places for a duo to play. :?:
    • John : Jimmie and I didn't get to play music very much this week, we're really missing it. We're looking for a weekly full gig. We need to hone our thing and to do that we need to play for hours at a stretch and not just 20 or 30 minutes. If anybody has any ideas let us know.
    • Jessica : you guys are funny
    • Sal : sure! I mean what could possibly go wrong?
    • John : she's been napping an hour, should I go in there holding a whip and a chair Siegfried & Roy style and see how the training went?
    • Jimmie : I'm trained. Nap time.
    • John : Jimmie publishes a schedule and my mind is trained on how to keep the trains on the track. 8-O
    • Sal : it's a version of that classic line from Watchman - "WHO TRAINS THE TRAINER?" ;)
    • John : ... yes
    • Art : have you experienced some trouble with that, John?
    • John : Jimmie's not at all happy about having to get up early on a Saturday morning and go in for training. Don't they know she's not trainable? :?:
    • John : It rained here yesterday!! Seemed to mark a change in the weather. We had a long streak of days of up around 103 degrees and now we're going to get four or five days around 95. Those 8 degrees make a big difference. Eight degrees of seperation between being able to spend much time outside or not.
    • John : I guess that's true - stand out too long and become a Burnt Up Man.
    • Jessica : Step outside John, you can be a burning man right here.
    • John : a year ago I came within inches of going with David Priest to Burning Man. I really thought then that he and I'd go for sure this year. I suddenly realized it's starting next week. I guess the best I can say again is... next year. «link»
    • steve : Ipad vs. printed magazines «link»
    • John : Back from another fishing trip. You have to make hay while the sun shines. OK... I'm going to settle down now and get caught up on all the stuff I was supposed to be doing this past week.
    • Art : "My hard drive has replaced my house". Is this what the world is coming to? «link» :-(
    • John : Jimmie and I are going to be playing with Al Barlow for his big birthday party at The Phoenix «link» in downtown New Braunfels this afternoon and then, hopefully, with Glenn at Riley's tonight. I've made a commitment to play with Jimmie and she and late nights before early Sunday mornings don't mix. But I'm pretty sure we'll be there tonight. Come on out if you can!
    • Art : i love your "stuff" posts John. Here's a link that made me think of you guys. «link»
    • Art : lookout extended family and friends network... it's Friday The 13th.
    • John : Rolando and Kari were great last night. So were the fish tacos.
    • John : Thursday Night Music Club tonight. OUr good friends Rolando and Kari Garcia will be featured. Come on out, you'll love it!
    • Jimmie : Jimmie recommends «link»
    • Steve : Whipple, you know all the swimming spots in San Antonio. We'll be playing in San Antonio this weekend, where can a family swim that isn't a chlorine pool?
    • Jesse : our family loves to read WHIPPLEWORLD! We have an iPaddle, too. You know Steve Jobs copied it almost exactly from clandestinely acquired schematics from a Gene Roddenberry garage sale. «link»
    • John : Jimmie and I are looking forward to playing the Olmos Bharmany tonight. There's music before and after us but we go on from 8:15 to 9:00. Claude Morgan will join us on guitar which will be a treat plus Jim and I had a nice confidence builder at Oma's two nights ago... if you have an interest in hearing 10 originals, they have a sportin' chance of sounding pretty decent tonight. ;) Admission is free and they serve food if you want to make a dinner out of it.
    • Malcolm : Now this «link» is what I call an old-school video game!
    • Art : were you holding your breath for Beatles songs to be on iTunes? Yoko says don't. «link»
    • Art : i dunno if anybody else will appreciate this but they put the whole AudioMedia Magazine annual product guide online for free here «link» i love these online magazines. makes me wish I had an iPad for easy reading
    • John : some of those are the newest and some of those are the oldest of the headers we've made. The dern random header loader is shooting blanks about half the time, I guess I need to get in there and try to troubleshoot it. If it comes up blank or if you just want to see another one, click on the header area and it puts another one up.
    • Steve : I dig the new mastheads!
    • John : I noticed you didn't do it... I'm tellin' ya, go to Facebook and get on the group mailing list. We pretty much use Facebook to do all the TNMC communicating. Join in!!!
    • John : oh yeah, we do it every Thursday without fail. It's regular. Like church. Bring some Bill Miller's brownies for the collection plate.
    • Art : I know you just got back will there be a Thursday Music Club tonight? :?:
    • John : We're home. I absolutely love my sister Renee. And New Mexico. And traveling with my family. But... it's so nice to wake up in your own little bed in your own little house. ;)
    • John : We're in New Mexico and are only getting phone and Internet connections every now and then. Having a great time, a couple of more days and we'll be home.
    • John : well thanks. You made me look and yeah, this past Sunday was the 7th Anniversary of this family and friends website. Most don't last long so in website years that's like being 90.
    • Aston : I have been sampling at random back to 2003 and am amazed you have archives with daily posts back seven years. It represents much effort.
    • John : My sister Renee and I are, I guess, the people who talk about the structure (old and decrepit) and function of the blog the most. We've talked about little sidebar ads but that sounds like work. No, no agenda or motive it's just us chickens.
    • Steve : here's a plug for unsupervised learning. «link» Even back when schools were better, wouldn't you agree that only the tiniest fraction of what we all learned was supervised. And not ANY of the really good stuff.
    • Aston : I enjoy the site. I don't know exactly what group this is. Because there are no adverts I assume it is not commercial. Is the connection that you are members of a group?
    • John : Evan's at Matt's with the camera making movies. I didn't ask what of but I'm sure I'm going to find out.
    • John : This week Jimmie and I will be the special musical guests. We have some new songs to air out.
    • Steve : we're quite a ways away but we'd like to come play the Thurs. Nite Music Club. Maybe soon.
    • John : Use "Thursday Night Music Club" as the search. Not "The Faust" or anything because it's not where it was before, it's at Oma's Underground in Gruene. If you are logged into Facebook just hit this «link» and click "join" and you'll get info each week from here on out. I haven't sent it out this week but sign up now and you'll get it. Anybody can do that. 728 have joined that little group page and they each get an invite every week. With one click. I like it.
    • Art : I couldn't find the info on Facebook for the Thurs. nite thing. What do I search for?
    • John : just FYI.... Jimmie is a ninja.
    • Sandra : I remember your beautiful songs, John. So you're still writing songs? ;)
    • John : I would have to record it. Isn't it funny how I've spent my life in the recording business but I have a block. I don't know why. I need to go to a psychiatrist. 8-O
    • MF : Will you post the "time Machine" song on the new facebook app thingy you found, or on here? that'd be great! K'thanks 8-O
    • John : I think she's married with children in Dallas.
    • Sandra : Do you ever see Janet? What ever happened to her?
    • John : Jimmie and I are still going strong since 1973. That's 37 years. I remain naïve, she effectively guards the fence line. One reason we've had such a long and successful marriage.
    • Sandra : I know who you're talking about. She walked around playing the recorder? I just remember that you and Janet were the sweetest hippie couple at Roosevelt. The matching elephant bell pants with all the patches. You guys were like the prince and princess of that whole scene. I wish you had called me.
    • John : no, I married Jim. There were things about me my high school friends didn't know.
    • Sandra : so did you marry Janet Brantley? :?:
    • John : that's my Dad who was posting about that. Yeah, those 100' tall high tension electrical distribution towers went just about over our house. Specially when the humidity was high each wire would hum so loud it was like a choir. Even to this day I can light a fluorescent tube just by stepping near it. Nice to hear from you. I'm fine. Married. One kid out of college, one in and one a junior in high school.
    • Sandra : I don't think you need to worry about cell phones. I was at your house back in high school, didn't you live under those giant electrical power lines?
    • Sandra : found you on Facebook John Whipple then followed this link. What a wonderful site. How have you been? ;)
    • John : we seem to be up and running again
    • John : If anybody's been trying to call, our Time Warner modem is acting up. The rain last night caused a power outage and maybe a surge. Internet's been up and down.
    • John : I guess you're cookin' like clams in the heatwave
    • Margaret : I just love this Whippleworld blog. I check it several times a day. Thanks for sharing this Texas related stuff all the way up to New England!
    • John : and..... this link shows you how to "Jailbreak" your iPad so you can see embedded YouTubes and run all the little java stuff. And, I guess, because jail is just bad. «link»
    • John : Jim, here's a bunch of free apps for your iPad «link»
    • Jimmie : I'm off work for three days, gonna wear out my virtual keyboard.
    • John : well... where are the posts Stinker?
    • Jimmie : Look out WhippleWorld, I found an app that let's me post from my iPad! Woohoo!!
    • John : I'm incredibly behind on answering emails and returning calls this week. If you're waiting on me.... sorry. I should be better over the weekend and next week.
    • John : Dubya never asked me over for a bbq so I'm not sure how close we are.
    • Art : you got your buddy George W. to thank for the predominance of performance testing. Started in Texas and then went coast to coast.
    • John : yeah but don't they create those TAKS and other tests based on the contents of the textbooks? They teach to those tests, it's almost all they do. Local school districts' funding is tied up in their performance on it. :?:
    • Art : that whole political textbook thing is silly in a way. Ask your kids, classes now are rarely taught by the chapter out of text books. The change away from text books has really already happened. Computers are involved in every subject.
    • John : think of that in context of the recent firestorm of controversy about textbooks. Could a school district or even teachers edit in and out what they wanted? Hmmmm...
    • Art : if the iPad could replace text books in schools think of all the money that would be saved «link»
    • John : first the boys went up to Austin for the early evening and then back through New Braunfels into San Antonio for the 3D iMax midnight premeire of Toy Story 3. I haven't had a chance to talk to them yet, they'll probably sleep until 2. Hope the movie was good.
    • John : This will be a really nice Thursday Night Music Club. If you've been meaning to come, do it this week.
    • DAP : Love all of the new headers!
    • Malcolm : If Friday isn't enough, the Lavens are looking to jam at their home on Sunday starting around 7pm and going, and going, and going... All are welcome.
    • Malcolm : Oops, here's the link: http:www.fretpow er.com
    • Malcolm : For those interested, SA Pickers is having a jam at Clay Daugherty's house - 146 Gazel in San Antonio. Clay is a luthier («link» power.com) and has hosted a few of these. Starting time is about sundown and has no set end time.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Alright! Prayers were answered for Rusty. Thanks for such good news and bless him.
    • Jimmie : Rusty is doing very well, in rehab, going home in a few weeks. Amazing recovery!
    • Karen in Hawaii : Is Rusty, dang I hope I have his name right, is he still progressing towards getting better? well, I'll hush. Y'all take care.
    • Karen in Hawaii : The weather there is what brought me here today. I am glad to hear you are all fine. Glad Jimmies so much better, too.
    • DAP : Love that header with Jonah. He was just so pretty!
    • John : That was me, last night... I didn't know Jimmie was logged on. ANYWAY... it flooded along the river really bad up here. And the roads were mostly closed this morning. Evan was spending the night at Matt's who's house is near the Guadalupe and the houses right across the street were under water. But it has receded and everybody here in the family is fine now.
    • Jimmie : What a thunderstorm! 8-O
    • John : we're on the same page there Mike. We got her to the doctor right away. He switched her to a much stronger antibiotic and it seems to be knocking it out. She's doing much better and is actually back at work this morning. But it was a tough four days.
    • MF : Get her to the Doc, it ain't worth it...at all. :!:
    • Malcolm : «link»
    • Malcolm : I hope things are going better for you today, Jimmie! As you are recuperating, check out this speech from Adam Savage about problem solving:
    • John : poor Jimmie, she's having her worse swelling today. I reached the doctor at home and got him to switch to a much stronger antibiotic just in case. We're concerned because the swelling is all the way around her eye now. We know not to take the chance of infection lightly. But you should see her, she looks pitiful.
    • Art : glad Jimmie's ok. love the colorful new headers
    • John : Jimmie's still hurting pretty bad but doing good. Another day of pampering and I think she'll start getting back to normal. I'm enjoying taking care of her.
    • John : Got Jimmie home. She was in there all morning. The oral surgeon seems to be a really thorough guy and he said he was able to do exactly what needed to be done. That was the problem before, just couldn't do it going from the crown towards the roots had to cut in from the other way. But this should get rid of the nagging tooth pain she's had.
    • John : Jim Bell is having oral surgery this morning. She hates going to the dentist for even minor things and here she is having to have some of the worst kind of dental work. But the boys and I are going to take good care of her this weekend.
    • Art : interesting link, the current size of the oil spill «link»
    • John : I got up on this beautiful morning after the incredible thunderstorm last night and the trees are full of tens of thousands of something making a huge racket. Sounds like frogs but they're way up in the trees. For as far as you can hear. It's scary loud. What a great storm last night. Rolling Texas thunder for hours. I love it.
    • Nikki : Sounds good... maybe I will go
    • Nikki : ahhhh....
    • John : My brother in law Mitch and his band are playing a Texas music festival in France in July. Here's a pdf of the brochure: «link» Maybe you can go see that.
    • Nikki : i am in Sweden and love the music made by Texans. «link» Come over here Whipples and we can have a big 'ole Texas time.
    • John : as is their tradition, Evan's best friend Matt is spending the first week of summer with us. Evan, Matt and Taylor turned the living room into a mancave while Jimmie and I were out in Kerrville. At this point I've written the living room off and am just trying to defend the kitchen.
    • John : we're back home now. That was like a vacation, wonderful. As you could see Jimmie tapped her iPad into a little WiFi at Pleasant Valley Ranch. It was slooooow but it was live. Go to Kerrville if you can, it's great. What happens on the main stage is nothing, it all happens at song circles people host in the tent and RV village. It's like a hundred house concerts going on, one at each house in a big subdivision. And you walk from circle to circle. Some of it is awful but a lot of it is brillia
    • John : OK..... All you guys that kept telling us over the years to come do the campground song circles here at Kerrville were right. Jimmie and I were up until 4:00 in the morning singing our little hearts out.
    • Ann/mom : Gorgeous header!
    • Jean : nice website
    • John : those are wild. Hey... we did go visit Rusty and had a long talk with him. He's much more stable than I expected. He's got a long haul ahead of him but he's determined to make the best of it.
    • Steve : Incredible photos of oil now along the Louisiana coastline «link»
    • John : I think Jim and I are going to go up to Austin to see Rusty tonight.
    • John : the whole thing has been acting funny this week. I made a special backup in case it implodes. It's a problem with our host (GoDaddy) and I'm going to call them this afternoon. In the meantime just keep doing what your doing. I appreciate your help keeping the spam cleaned out.
    • DAP : Is something up w/Wordpress? It keeps asking me to update.
    • John : Welcome to the weekend. Hope everybody has a great one!
    • MF : Happy Birthday Miss Jimmie, love you much!
    • John : ....but it only seems to be on the that one post.
    • John : Yeah, I see that. I've looked at everything I know how to look at, I don't know why it's doing what it's doing.
    • Deirdre : But they're all there on the dashboard. :-?
    • John : I looked at those comments this morning, I guess they got deleted. Have to make those comments again.
    • Deirdre : Hey Leslie, do you know why all of the comments about Tiffany's wonderful art are not showing up?
    • Dale : paid a visit from Facebook - love your Facebook posts and really, really love this blog. Good communications in your family. We're going to start trying to do what you're doing.
    • Steve : I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe
    • John : ok.... they shipped it today. Should have it by the end of the week.
    • John : they ran out of magical cameras before they shipped mine. So it's backordered. I'm trying to get them to tell me how long.
    • John : back from a weekend in Austin with the Webbs. Matt and Winona were such kind hosts. Great to see Becky and Tom, Cassell and Craig, Mitch and Hillary, Jack and the girls, The Taylors... and everybody else. The whole thing was a really nice time. All our kids were there last night. It's particularly important to Jimmie to get this time with her sisters.
    • Casey 2 : Sleepy :-?
    • John : ....it's raining here. Nice hard, long rain. Need the rain but it's making today feel pretty dreary.
    • Sunny : here are some big pictures from The Globe of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. «link» :-(
    • John : this was in this morning's New York Times about EMI. «link»
    • John : not in their English office. Maybe Toni Braxton. And know what? Their Latin divisions made money. It was everything else that has hemorrhaged money.
    • Melissa : there might be some old collectible Selena posters
    • John : If it goes to a liquidation sale, Tejas could buy a desk and a box of paperclips.
    • Art : how about Tejas, is Tejas interested?
    • John : No. It certainly could happen but it's not the most likely thing to happen.
    • Art : I forget the link: «link»
    • Art : do you think Sony will buy EMI?
    • John : There's going to be a nice Webb family reunion in Austin at Winona's this Saturday. Cassell and Craig will be here from England, Becky and Tom from California and of course Jimmie and I and Mitch and Hillary are here already... Winona is going to have the complete set of all her Aunts and Uncles at her house at one time. We're really looking forward to it.
    • John : Winona is doing such a great job of keeping everybody informed on Rusty's condition via email. The news in each day's update gets better and better. It's amazing that he has survived this far. He's a fighter.
    • Art : Here's a story about a scientist who can actually say she saved the world. «link»
    • Art : me, too
    • John : I'm so glad it's the weekend! :-)
    • Karen in Hawaii : Jimmie, will be praying for Rusty.
    • John : Jimmie and I are back. Including taking our time and staying relaxed getting down there and back, it was a four day trip. We only stayed one night on the beach. We did a lot of moving around. Went to some nice restaurants. Walked on peirs and jetties. Went to the annual Nautical Fleamarket - we were just lucky to run into that. We met some nice people which seems to happen more when walking the dogs. It felt like a looooong trip for just four days. And we really needed it.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Hope you had or are still having a blast.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Didja bring back any of those beautiful sand dollars? Texas beaches have some of the biggest and best in the world.
    • John : Jimmie and are headed down to the Padre Island National Seashore for another honeymoon. Taking two German shepherds and leaving one plus two boys to guard the house. See you guys later.
    • Steve : most San Antonians believe the Spurs didn't try hard to win in Dallas so they could close it out at home. I'm not saying what I think except that a WHOLE lot more money was made playing that last game at home.
    • John : I think Mitch has said that he's made money with CD Baby. Why not record your single best song and put it up there? People, and you guys know who you are, who wait two and three and four years between making new records might want to go into the making singles business. And then when you have done 10, burn them on one offs CDs and sell them at shows. 8-O
    • John : I try to keep up with this blog and Monday's post talks a little about the new CD Baby single policy. Looks like it's just one time 9 clams. FYI... it's a great all around music business blog if you do RSS. «link»
    • A.J. : ....is it nine bucks and then nine bucks every year? Does anybody make any dough on CD Baby :?:
    • Steve : CD Baby has changed their policy and you don't have to have released a complete CD anymore. You can now record one song and submit to them and they will make it available through their service and only charge a one time $9 fee and then 9% of each sale.
    • John : what in the heck was that Spurs?
    • John : that is cool, Mike. Thanks for that. And I hope everybody is settling down in front of the boob tube to watch the Spurs/Mavs game.
    • Alfred : you're right, that is cool. very cool.
    • MF : «link»
    • MF : John, check this out...pretty cool:
    • John : She had such a major success with them at The Woodzie, I think Jimmie needs to take her hats to this DIY Art/Craft Fair in Austin in May. A couple of other crafters would need to go in on a booth with her. «link»
    • John : Thanks. Yeah, if you want to know what major thing was going on in Whippleworld on any day in the last seven years you can find it in the archives. That dairy element was one of the goals we thought might be possible and we achieved it.
    • Alfred : love this website. I'm working my way back in the archives to July 2003. What a history you have here!!
    • John : What a GREAT game tonight. If you saw the last two San Antonio/Dallas games you know that they felt like real old time playoff games. So glad the Spurs won. The likelihood now of the Spurs going to the 2nd round is something like 98 percent.
    • Steve : Don’t talk to aliens, warns Stephen Hawking «link»
    • Art : GO SPURS!!
    • A.J. : "Joni says Dylan A Fake!" Hows that for a headline Whippleworld? «link»
    • John : Jimmie bought a big pork roast and it's cookin' in a brown sugar/Dijon mustard glaze right now. We're bringing that and mashed potatoes to The Thursday Night Music Club. We need some eaters. Can you eat?
    • John : A.J., that used to be true but a recording contract in 2010 is the spleen of whoever's financing it dangling with a fishook in it. There'd be plenty of takers if any spleens were left. I know mine are gone.
    • John : Renee pointed out on her Facebook page that Walgreen's is doing a deal today where they'll refill your printer cartridge for $1. Today only. Here's the details. «link»
    • A.J. : A shrimp with a hook in it is a recording contract.
    • A.J. : heard from Loz Desperadoz that you caught some fish. Kool.
    • John : I'm gonna sell them some shrimp.... with a hook in it. And I'm going with Chano from CE Distributors. We're riding together so we'll talk a little business down there and back. I've been fishing for redfish for years now, this will be a trip after big trout. The guide called and said they're out there and that tomorrow would be the day.
    • Art : Are you doing business with fish now, John? They buy many CDs?
    • John : I'm leaving on a business/pleasure fishing trip, be back Thursday for TNMC. Y'all make plans to follow Dale up to New Braunfels.
    • Dale : Hoping to come to your Thursday Night Music Club this week!
    • John : You're very welcome. Thank you for coming. MAN... Jimmie and I and a few of our buddies played a little show at San Marcos yesterday. Jimmie and I have become devoted to playing together now. We played our songs and sat and visited in what turned out to be the bright sunshine... and each got a crisp new hundred bill. It's not that the money is a big deal, it's just special to us that we got it for playing. It wasn't that different from TNMC. Except the hundred bill part.
    • Paul : ditto. we'll be there next year!! :D
    • Melissa : Thanks again for The Woodzie John. You have the nicest family and friends. We had the very best time and we'll never, ever miss one. Thank you for letting us be there.
    • John : ....a hectic couple of days. Taylor's car broke down and I've been ferrying him back and forth to San Antonio College. He got his first experience hunting car parts down at a junk yard today. He paid $85 for the parts instead of $345 and he was thrilled. Plus we got to race up and down the aisles between the cars in two 4 wheelers. We were chasing the junk yard goats. It was great.
    • John : I wanna thank everybody for all the phone calls about the Woodzie. I've been getting them just about non-stop since Sunday. You're welcome. And thank you.
    • Ann/mom : I have to say that this Woodzie was just wonderful. I brought a neighbor, who had a friend in from Boise, Idaho and she says she wants to come back next year. On Monday morning I brought Deirdre back to the Woodzie site to get her car and I was wishing we could do it again! Everything was still so beautiful.
    • Stephen : the WOODZIE was amazing. love the photos. thanks Whippleworld. :!:
    • John : well like I say the next day every year... the Woodzie occured! Saying "a happening" is one thing, the Woodzie is "an occurrence". One step up from a happening. It was great. I've enjoyed all seven but I think this one and the second one are my personal favorites. Thanks everybody for making it so cool!
    • Karen in Hawaii : Y'all live it up and have a fantastic time, and thanks for posting pics later, when you can. God bless and huggz, Wish I could be there, to say the least. Sincerely, Karen
    • Karen in Hawaii : Your Woodzie location looks so GREEN and gorgeous this year! Woo hooo so wasn't it that you were in drought last year and are not at all, now? What a blessing!
    • John : There's a whole gaggle of us out at the Woodzie site. It's looking really, really good. Everybody is as happy as a little kid on vacation. That's the magic of The Woodzie. Drive out here and hang with us tonight if you want to. When Butch Morgan gets here I bet a song circle is gonna break out.
    • John : Jimmie took today and tomorrow off so she'll have four days of Woodzie vacation!! We're hitting the preperation of the campsites really hard. It's going to be close timewise but I think we'll have it really nice by Saturday. Jimmie's favorite thing in the world is working in her woods so she's very, very happy.
    • John : check out the "dogs in the snow" video «link»
    • John : you're so welcome. The TNMC and the Oma's thing were both fun. Just think.. in 25 short years you'll be old like me and Jimmie. These upcoming 25 years are the big ones, you have to do something great with them.
    • Tyler : Thank y'all again so much! It totally made the start of my 26th year awesome...now if we can all take a moment to remind Deirdre that I'm not 25... :) love y'all!
    • Ann/mom : Son, we really enjoyed you and Jimmy tonight. What a fitting end to Tyler's BD
    • John : OK.... I'm playing at Oma's tonight for the ending ceremonies of Tyler's 25th Week Long Birthday Olympics. Come up and have a Dunkel. I'll see if I can't stick my endings.
    • Ann/mom : Well ya see, when Billy O'Connor & I danced together or if I'm dancing, I can sing! But heck, ya can't be dancing to sing, or remember the words. Oh, heck I'll just listen to ya'll!
    • John : Mother, you do have those talents you just need to start singing and playing some percussion stuff. I don't know of anybody who has more music in them than you. It's in every cell of your body.
    • Ann/mom : I keep wondering why don't I have any of those talents?
    • Ann/mom : I am trying to figure out how you can go to TNMC and not smile! Just the joy of anticipation and seeing, and meeting other people is enough for me. But then..knowing someone is going to just bowl you over with a song is such a gift. Lawrence harmonizes so beautifully and enjoys it so much. I thnk I live for TNMC, in the sense of looking forward to being with so many wonderful friends and of course family.
    • John : it was so nice to see Tyler having so much fun. Didn't she sound great? Last night's TNMC had it's share of oddities but it was overall very good. Everybody seemed to enjoy singing even more than usual, it wasn't a laid back night... everybody was belting it out.
    • Jimmie : Big night at Thursday Night Music Club tomorrow for Tyler's b-day. Hope to see you there!
    • Art : we're looking forward to the WOODZIE
    • John : Now it's Sunday night. Time is flying. The Susan Gibson songwriting workshop went well. After that Jimmie and I drove all the way to Devine, Texas for Claude Morgan's house warming party. He's been rebuilding that house for years and it's finally done. We saw some interesting people, played a little music and had a great time. Claude said to say hello to everybody and that he'll see ya at The Woodzie this year for sure.
    • John : ...now it's Friday and it's gorgeous. Caught a little bit of the weather on TV ... looks like an almost perfect week this week.
    • John : now it's Thursday and it's gorgeous
    • John : another rainy day
    • John : wow. thanks!
    • Jessica : I saw your post on the Transit Tower here in town. Here is a photo «link» from Life magazine looking down Houston Street (?) past the Gunter Hotel. I love your blog!
    • Tyler : pics?
    • John : the new floor is great
    • John : Jimmie is putting in a new kitchen floor. She's such an expert at that. It's almost done and it looks great.
    • Steve : “Magnetism, as you recall from physics class, is a powerful force that causes certain items to be attracted to refrigerators.”
    • John : Yeah, it was good to see you. Well.. I have one foot back on the side of the living now that the Tejas party is in the rear view mirror. I'm wondering how it's going to be possible to pull off The Woodzie just 18 days from now.
    • Jimmie : we enjoyed seeing you Liani!
    • Liani : Hi John! It was really nice to catch up with you guys last week. Just got my tickets for Woodzie! Looking forward to friends, music and blue bonnets in bloom!
    • John : don't forget the Tejas Party. Just tell them you're with Whippleworld and they'll stamp you VIP at the door. It might be considerably less packed this year just because things are so down in record business but fewer people will make it easier to get around. It's at the Cadillac Bar at 7:00. The address is 212 S. Flores, a street over from the courthouse.
    • MF : Don't forget Big Glenn's open mic at Casbeers, at 7:30PM...it's gonna be hi-fi deluxe
    • John : Another rainy day, this has been one of the rainiest winter/early springs I can remember. But the weather report says we'll have a perfect night for the Tejas Party. A cool, dry night in downtown San Antonio... I'm thinking it's going to be good.
    • Steve : I'll be at both
    • John : Yeah, it's the 10th. Are you guys coming to the Tejas Party next week? Friday the 19th. Everybody is invited to a big old night full of San Antonio Tex-Mex music tradition.
    • Art : steve... it's April 10th
    • Steve : I'm sure it's on your website here somewhere but tell me again what day the woodzie is :?:
    • John : We had a real treat yesterday, Chris MacKenzie and Liliana came for a tour of The Woodzie site. Jimmie had just taken off to cut wildflowers and we were able to catch up with her and all have a nice visit at the boneyard.
    • John : Jimmie and I have been going out to the Woodzie site for campfires in the evenings. What wonderful weather we've had this week. I think spring is here to stay. I'm being inspired - I think I'll plant a big vegetable garden this year.
    • Ann/mom : I thought last night was very special. Betsy has a very sweet pure voice, and Zak is so very thrilled with everybody and being able to sing. Then the gentleman who gave me his name, and shame on me I have forgotten, but he is in from Arkansas taking turns sitting with his Mom as he has about 7 days left so Hospice has said. He is an architect & loved the looks of the Faust & couldn't believe what he found. He said he could feel our love and the vibes from everybody's enthusiasm made him want t
    • Tyler : OMG y'all I have 9 days off starting tomorrow at 5! whoo-hoo I don't know what I'll do with myself :) I need some sun
    • John : Well.... The Woodzie is one month away.
    • John : I'm not sure how fearless I am anymore.
    • MF : It was also Townes's birthday. Brad drug himself in sick as a dog and did a Townes set...even ol' Glenn did a Townes set...you had better get more fearless....if your our fearless leader... [smiley]
    • John : no, Mike.... I got back late and was just impossibly tired. I didn't know it was the 4th Anniversary until I read it this morning. So sorry I missed it. That's like only the 4th time I've missed in 4 years.
    • MF : You going to Riley's Big John?
    • John : We're taking a little road trip today.... see you guys tomorrow.
    • Malcolm : Yes, Ann, I plan on only taking home those animals I bring with me.
    • Ann/mom : Malcolm, are you trying to say that this year you won't be taking one home with you?
    • Malcolm : Ofcoureyearright surewhateveryous ayuhhuh. :-?
    • John : I had forgotten about that. Of course now I'm sure you love it and happily change it's litter box.
    • Malcolm : She was one of the felines doled out at last year's gathering. Katie was the gifted recipient - not my idea.
    • John : Explain that to me Malcolm. How is that a Woodzie kitten?
    • Malcolm : I know I'm gonna try to make it Thursday. In the meantime, take a look at one of the Woodzie kittens from last year. «link» ;)
    • John : This Thursday will be the one year anniversary. I hope everybody will make a special effort to come.
    • Ann/mom : Last night was just fabulous! Casey's new song brought a tear to a dear friend of mine in Denver,CO ! They listen to TNMC every week and it makes them feel like a part of it. Can't wait until next Thursday.
    • Tyler Archer : Yay! TNMC is closely approaching!
    • Jimmie : tonight is Casey at Thursday Night Music Club. Drive up or tune into the Internet radio broadcast!!
    • John : MySpace is so 15 minutes ago.
    • Peterson : thanks for the plug Whippleworld. Love the site. Here's some news about MySpace: MySpace’s Hail Mary Strategy: “Discovery” «link»
    • John : From Brad, "Just a reminder, Parke Hedges will be on Channel 4 News in San Antonio tonight after the Olympics."
    • Guest_1973 : Hello Team WhippleWorld, My name is Austin Brown and I have been following your contributions within Whipple World. I really enjoy the great material you have to share on a consistent basis and I really hope to see this blog thrive well into the future . I'm writing to you today because I thought that you and your readers would be interested in hearing about a new reality-TV singing competition for country singers thats hitting the web and television called The Hard Road to Nashville ™.
    • Art : I heard through the grapevine that your show at Oma's was great.
    • John : it's 78 degrees outside, Jimmie's out in the forest getting ready for the Woodzie.
    • John : I really appreciate everybody coming out to Oma's on Friday. What a wonderful turnout. I had a terrific time. Tracy wanted me to thank everybody... it has been slow during the cold months and they needed a successful night. She said our thing combined with the party upstairs resulted in a very big night for them. She said it was just what they needed. It was just what I needed, too.
    • John : Thanks. Yeah, I'm going to do a full hour of my stuff. That ought to be quite an experience. Of some kind. TONIGHT is TNMC with Brad as the featured guest so everybody needs to either come or tune into www.am1760.net to listen. Starts somewhere around 7:00 to about 11:00 central time.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Also, VERY cool you're going to be singing more and the venues will grow. Live it up, y'all. Take care.
    • Karen in Hawaii : That's quite a coincidence that though the Whipple lady isn't a direct relative, you had indeed had to say goodbye to someone. Sincere condolences to all that loved her and cared for her.
    • John : I went and looked at that and it was Elizabeth Wells Whipple who I don't believe is a direct relative to us. Mother and I were at a funeral this morning; my sister Renee's husband Randy's sister Maureen Grothues. We love all the Grothues. Maureen was very special person who we remember very fondly.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Bless all and glad you had a fine Valentine's day. Only place I ever rode a hog was on Devil's backbone, or that's what we called it then, and it's somewhere between Kirby and Canyon Lake is all I recall, LOL. well, motormouth, over and out. Thanks and huggz
    • Karen in Hawaii : Jimmie and John, I just found a Whipple listed in the Obits of the SA paper online. surely she is a relative of yours, yes? I have to get some sleep but wanted to peek in on y'all and send you huggz and condolences but dangme that I can't read a lot here right now. You, as always have added some wonderful pictures and articles. Hope to peek back soon.
    • John : What a gorgeous day today was. Had a nice visit with Renee last night. A negative is that Taylor and Evan are both sick - hope it doesn't keep spreading.
    • Deirdre : Thanks Art! Willy and I really enjoyed the premiere and we're going to record the series.
    • Art : you guys are into genealogy, have you seen the TV ads for "Faces of America"? «link» I know not everybody watches PBS but I think it's going to get a lot more people wondering about their family history. :?:
    • John : It was good. I bet they had a defibrillator within 30 feet of Pete Townsend the whole time.
    • Pat : not only did our Saints win but it was the most watched television broadcast in history. «link» And The Who totally kicked butt. :)
    • John : yeah, that's where Russell, Renee and I grew up. Dad drives over there to check on it just about every day. It's a cool house, it just needs a restoration.
    • Casey : went to the Eisenhower Fleamarket today and off the highway I see this house and I go, hey I think that is my Grandad's house is that Glendora St. and sure enough it was ..... isn't that crazy that I can pick out a house that I've never been to? Anyway what a cool looking house and what a shame no one lives in it!
    • M. Peters : I see links to this blog from many music topic forums like this one «link»
    • John : Thank you. My sister and I did those. Keep clicking on the headers to view different ones. There's about 80.
    • M. Peters : you have more artistic headers than any site i've seen
    • John : for those visitors who come from Facebook or from a search to a single page, click on the header to go to the main blog page.
    • John : Art... it's all volunteers. Has nothing to do with trying to make music in the money biz. Come out and help with it. Sonny, come sing in a song circle one week - that's the way to a featured spot. Love to have you.
    • Sonny : I saw Havilah at the writing workshop last weekend. What would it take for me to be a featured guest?
    • Art : The live radio thing is pretty damn cool John  how can you afford to do that without any ads?
    • Jackie : i heard the streamcast from your folk concert and it was very enjoyable, a very talented group. thanx.
    • John : Jimmie's making a HUGE pot of potato soup for Thursday Night Music Club tonight. Come hungry.
    • John : It's rained so much I think I'm growin' gills. Could Mother Nature please settle us in somewhere between drought and rain forest?
    • John : here's the online PDF version of Texas Music Magazine. It's worth looking at. «link»
    • Pat : 2:39 p.m. Best contemporary folk album: Steve Earle's "Townes." «link» And the Jeff Beck "How High The Moon" tribute to Les Paul was cool.
    • John : Well, Tejas had two out of the five nominations in our category in yesterday's Grammy Awards but didn't win. The 30 minutes of the broadcast I sat and watched was just awful. They really work hard to make those talented people look so stupid. Bon Jovi was ridicuous. Pink was the only cool thing I saw. The song didn't leave any impression, just the high wire and dripping water act. That was cool. She should join the circus.
    • John : The Cactus Cafe links U.T. with Austin's music scene. What a mistake to close it.
    • Steven : that's bad news
    • Pat : when in Austin did you hear that they're closing the Cactus Cafe? «link» Captial City musicians mustn't be happy 'bout that. :-(
    • Sonny : John, I'm in the showcases. Second room from the front.
    • John : Back on the computer for a moment. Claude just finished his showcase. He filled the room and did a fantastic job. He's easily one of the coolest guys here. Jimmie, I just met somebody who remembers you from a Swindles show at Riley's. He verified it when he said you were a "spirited dancer". I've also talked to a surprising number of people who are following everything that happens with TNMC on Facebook each week and several who've played it.
    • John : Well thanks..... I'm on the computer across from the bar if you're on a laptop or something in the lobby. But people are waiting - I'll be the one getting beat up here in two or three minutes. I'm doing fine - THANKS SO MUCH, CASEY. THIS HAS BEEN A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE.
    • Sonny : i've been searching around this website. nice. I met John Whipple at the songwriter's workshop in Austin yesterday and Googled him. a wonderful songwriter.
    • Jimmie : yeah, a big one.
    • Tyler Archer : Whoo-hoo! TNMC tonight!
    • John : Funny how that works, huh?
    • Casey : ok so if you ask who is bringing the cake I guess the answer is you.
    • John : your Grandma really liked it last time so one of the potluck headliners for TNMC is going to be your mother's famous lasagna style ZITI! We need good bread and lots of side dishes.
    • John : Grandma has been the great provider of everybody's birthday cakes for so many years, we need to get her a nice one. What should we do?
    • Casey : what is the meal plan for TNMC? Anyone bringing a cake? :D
    • John : It just hasn't learned to love you yet. Bring it and I'll do a little matchmaking on Thursday.
    • Tyler Archer : Uncle John I'll bring my laptop to TNMC & show you but the Dashboard wont let me create posts- I'm logged in...it just hates me
    • karen in Hawaii : So, it's a good year for Bluebonnets and you're still counting them, I bet! Sigh...what a life.
    • John : It's not you, live links are the only thing that don't email in - they're just seen as text. If you log in you can do it the non emailing in way and then links are easy. Try it!
    • Tyler Archer : Uncle John the blog hates me - my links didn't show up :( again
    • John : Going to Riley's tonight. Join us!
    • DAP : Avett Brothers are on Austin City Limits tonight.
    • John : you gots ta log in. Or you can email it in. I'll call you.
    • Casey : what changed? how can I write a post?
    • Tyler Archer : Thanks Uncle John! I'm glad I finally got to stay for a little bit of the song circle again.
    • John : You were really good tonight, Tyler. I enjoyed everything you did.
    • Tyler Archer : Whoo-hoo! TNMC!!! Yay!!! Yeehaw!!! Yippee! Okay that's all the excitement I can handle right now...see y'all tonight!
    • John : Don't forget Thursday Nigh Music Club tonight! «link»
    • Steve : Cursor kite. I WANT one. Take control of the beach. Delete bullies kicking sand in my face. Erase bikini tops. Who knew it could be this easy? «link»
    • Steve : Want to vote in the Austin Chronicle Music Poll? «link»
    • John : Going with my cousin Charlie Whipple (who's closing in on 80) to visit cousin Dorothy Wimberley, (over 90), on Wednesday to mill over stories, photos and papers about our family in the early days of Wimberley, Tx. Charlie wrote a song about Wimberley that mentions Dot's grandfather Pleasant Wimberley and we're going to sing it for her. I think she'll be tickled. I'll try to get some photos.
    • Steve : I saw your "Big Picture" link about Haiti the other day. Here's the newest one called "Six Days Later": «link»
    • John : me, three.
    • Art : It's very sunny and warm today... but I wish I was down there with a fishing pole.
    • Steve : I hope the weather is as nice in San Antone as it is here at South Padre. Sunny, warm and clear.
    • John : oh... beautiful today though. Jimmie and I have been walking and counting bluebonnet plants. 21,435 or at least more than we've ever seen before.
    • John : It has rained the same slow, steady, hypnotic rain for more than 24 hours now. It's enough to drive you crazy.
    • Karen in Hawaii : I'll hush now, but just thanks for having the most TEXAN website that I've ever found, and it's THE place on the net I come to when I am homesick. Goodnight, from here.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Dang, I guess I need sleep, Jimmie. I thanked you for making me welcome and sharing your part of the cyber world, and this very fine TEXAS family site.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Christmas and the Holiday season was as nice as possible. for our immediate family it was fun and sweet, but EVERY holiday we spend time on the phone with family back there, of course.
    • Tyler Archer : Thanks Uncle John you're my Blog Knight in Shining Armor :)
    • John : I fixed it.
    • Tyler Archer : uh-oh john my post is on there twice!!!!
    • John : I saw on FaceBook that Terry Garza was asking what sign you were. Remember why you and I went on the Atkins Diet? So our sign doesn't have to be "wide load".
    • MF : John, I have severed all ties with Dr.Atkins and his Shenannigans. To Wit: I embrace and endorse Dulce de Leche and all other variants of The Girl Scouts, and will consume them in copious quantities, should they become available. That bridge is a smoldering pile of dust.
    • Malcolm : Looks like I need to make my way to TNMC this week with an order form! :D
    • Tyler Archer : OMG OMG! I want Samoas, thin mints, sandies, the apple ones, tag-alongs, ummm and all the other too! I bought 10 boxes last year, but in my defense two were for Haley...
    • Taylor Whipple : I'll take some Thin Mints.
    • John : Dulce De Leches? Sounds like one of the bridges you're burning is the one between you and the Atkins Diet. 8-O
    • MF : Malcolm Ill take a box of dulce de leches...will you be at the Faust?
    • John : That sounds like a deal Malcolm. We'll take some for sure. Bonnie Priest used to put notices here years ago... now Ali is all grown up and in college and our Girl Scout Cookie connection dried up.
    • Malcolm : For those Whippleworlders looking for a source of Girl Scout cookies I've got you covered: «link» Order early, order often and deliveries can be accomplished at either the Thursday Night Music Club or Reilly's. Not that I need an excuse, but one helps!
    • John : Our well head is exposed and a lot of our plumbing is really susceptible to freezing when it gets down to under 25 and stays there all night. This 15 degree business is a real problem. I think I was able to prepare for it here ok but I'm afraid Taylor's house may go off like a sprinkler after the ice melts.
    • John : Here's Cassell and Craig as seen from above: «link»
    • John : we had a nice TNMC. We missed Deirdre and Ann/Mom but it was sure nice to see Tara, The Garcia's and David Byboth. The night ended with a bang... Evan's car wreck.
    • Jimmie : So nice to have a virtual visit from you, Karen. Hope you had a wonderful holiday season there in paradise!
    • Karen in Hawaii : Oh man! I miss the San Antonio Light. very cool to see this here. Well, I'll hush, bless you all.
    • Karen in Hawaii : Y'all enjoy your winter weather, seriously I miss the stuff but hoping you don't stay Too cold for long.
    • Karen in Hawaii : John, I hear ya. Thanks. I'd bet anyone in that area named Wells is likely kin, just as every person named Grumbles in Texas dang sure is.
    • John : Be ready..... San Antonio is going to get down into the teens for the first time since 2002. Thursday, Friday and Saturday are all going to be super cold.
    • John : Thanks, Mike. My voice felt good and, for whatever reason, my pitch was there. It usually has a mischievous mind of it's own bent on making a fool out of me.
    • MF : John, you sounded great at Riley's....the best iv'e heard you in a long while...what ever it was keep doing that!
    • Jimmie : we're heading out for a little holiday visit to see Charlie and Susan Whipple
    • John : Karen, Rick is a friend but my Dad knows him a lot better than I do. I think he lives northwest of San Antonio. Maybe Boerne. That's not to say he didn't come from Devine.
    • Karen in Hawaii : John, your friend Rick Wells....is he from Devine, or kin to Kenneth Wells & the other Wells that are from there?
    • Karen in Hawaii : Wow, so much to catch up on! God bless you, John to be your healthiest in this new year, and hope you're all healed and fine, now. HAPPY new year to all of you, Sincerely, dang I gotta get some sleep but I see a lot of new posts and videos to get back here and enjoy, soon. K~
    • John : well, Jimmie and I are looking forward to seeing you tonight at The Lavens. I'm looking forward to playing - maybe we'll grab that traditional song circle spot on the back porch if it's not too chilly.
    • Malcolm : John, it is always a pleasure to see you, Jimmie, Brad, Glenn and everyone else energy level notwithstanding. Just glad to see you up and at 'em! :-) I love hanging out with you guys!
    • Steve : here's a better, high tech snow flake designer. «link»
    • John : it was great to see you at Riley's, Malcolm. Thanks for coming up. Sorry my energy level was so low, I'm still trying to get back to normal.
    • Malcolm : Okay, Glenn, Brad and I are here at Riley's waiting for you, John and company! ;)
    • John : Mother, Deirdre and Renee are coming up for dinner. I'm going to Riley's to play after that and some of them may come for a while. For DAP the deterrent is the smoke. Evan and Jimmie are coming to play. Come up if you can!
    • Steve : don't have no Texas snow? This is beautiful and easy «link»

    • John : Quick!... more fake boogers!!
    • Deirdre : All of the mountain cedar in South Texas has just landed in my sinuses in the last hour. And I haven't even gone outside. (We need a head swelling like a balloon emoticon here.)
    • John : thanks! We're heading over to our daughter Casey's new house in San Antonio for this year's Christmas dinner and get together. We've always done it on Christmas Eve. We'll have a big breakfast and do the kids' presents in the morning and then over to Mitch and Hillary's Christmas afternoon. Hope every body has a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing Christmas! Relax, it's CHRISTMAS!
    • Art : MERRY CHRISTMAS WHIPPLEWORLD!
    • DAP : I would also recommend Allergen Block «link» - also known as fake boogers. They help.
    • John : Well... the cedar pollen is starting to release. If you take something for cedar fever, start taking it now. Taylor and I take the over the counter generic Clariton from Wal-Mart. If you get the Equate two 60 count bottle package it's something like 8 cents a pill. If you take it everyday starting now you might cruise through unscathed this season.
    • John : No, we went once and that's enough. If they were to have it at Riley's I'd go.
    • Maria : congratulations on another year of Grammy nominations for Tejas, John. Not just one but two :!: Are you going to go?
    • Steve : glad you're out Big John. don't over do.
    • John : other than the incision, my arm looks normal for the first time in what seems like forever. I have this strange, strong taste of what I guess is the antibiotics. I'm a little unsteady but other than that... I feel pretty good. Thanks everybody for all your kindnesses while I was sick.
    • Jimmie : He's out of surgery and back in his room. Doing great.
    • Kim M : Good luck with the surgery, John. Let us know if we can do anything to help you guys. Hope those bugs give up soon so you can go home.
    • Guest_3160 : John-I am so sorry--hang in there. Becky
    • DAP : I know this doesn't help, but OOUUCCHHHHH!!! :-?
    • John : In three hours (Wed. 7:00) I'm having the surgery to clean out the part of the infection that's in my elbow. Looks like I'm going to be here until Friday.
    • John : It's Tuesday night, about 11:45 - I'm sitting in my hospital bed with a computer in my lap. It feels like I've been in this room forever. They took me for a wheelchair ride to x-ray yesterday. I was looking around, so excited, like a dog in the back of a pickup truck. I gotta get outta here. I think I'm gonna make a crawl for it.
    • John : That's the bad news Malcolm, after this I won't be able to play the piano worth a damn. Exactly the same as before.
    • Malcolm : That's terrific news! :-) Now the question remains will you be able to play the piano?
    • John : Taylor just stopped by the hospital to check on me and I've commondeered his laptop for the rest of the day. I'm doing much better. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I've rounded the corner and will be back on my feet in a day or two.
    • Cara : Sending my prayers and best wishes!
    • Kelli : Oh no!! Just read the news...putting the entire Whipple clan in my prayers. Keep us posted...
    • Casey : mom says dad is stable. they are giving him heavy duty anti-biotics... she will be staying the night with him... she went to wally world to buy some knitting materials so she should be ok too
    • Casey : um he doesn't want any visitors today but if he gets feeling better and he does I will post it.... right now he just wants to get feeling better
    • MF : How long will he stay? Is he getting visitors?
    • Casey : John has been admitted to North East Methodist Hospital. The infection has spread to his hand and he is now being given intervenious anti-biotics. I will post updates. Let's all hope for the best.
    • Jimmie : They weren't able to get anything to drain so, no culture. I marked the outer rim of the red area and it hasn't grown since this afternoon. Also, I think he's feeling better.
    • MF : Methicillin-resi stant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterial infection that is highly resistant to some antibiotics. Staph skin infections cause a red, swollen, and painful area on the skin
    • MF : Methicillin-resi stant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a bacterial infection that is highly resistant to some antibiotics. Staph skin infections cause a red, swollen, and painful area on the skin similar to what he is experiencing
    • MF : Good. There are only a small amount of antibiotics that can kill certain bacteria, and if it's incapsulated that will keep it from spreading but hard to kill. Im glad you took him. with a broad spectrum of antibiotics should keep it from making him worse. did they do a culture to see if it's not MRSA or Staph?
