I would like to visit the site of Camp Kenedy, in honor of my late Father-in-Law Hugo Droege who was captured from his farm in Guatemala and sent there in 1942.
Can anyone tell me what there is to see there, today?
From online research and the excellent article by Robert H. Thonhoff, I understand that there are only 5 grave sites and two water towers left, but perhaps there is some historical information in the town that related to this chapter in the town’s history?
Am planning to do the trip from Florida next year 2010, and would be honored to meet anyone who remembers this Camp and has some connection to it.
Any help appreciated, and thank you all for keeping these memories alive.

Yes, I will be glad to tell you what I know and meet you and show you around although there is really nothing there now. But, I remember where everything was. There are pictures posted on the internet plus a good newspaper to dig up data if need be.
The prison camp was located on my grandfathers property about a mile south of town. I was there from mid 1945 to 1947 where it was turned back my grandfather in 1947.I was 10 years old. As I remember there were no incidents there.
If you are interested in a good personal adventure story that happened in 1965 I was visiting friends in Guatamala, San Salvador and Nicaragua. Worth reading and all very true and I value remembering it..
