This was the most exciting car in the world! When I was 12 years old and identified with it as the right car at the right time. It is hard to believe the Oldsmobile is gone for ever. It will always be in my dreams and memory.
I still remember the day the Riegels had bought a yellow convertible and came by our house to show it to us. The top was down and it was packed with smiling faces of the neighborhood. My brothers Raymond and Bill were there.
The Riegels lived on the corner of Wildflower and Bandera road in a dream house built of rock with an old rust green 1935 Studebaker sitting in the back yard that had brought them all the way from California and we kids played in it and heard the story many times of how they had eloped (a word no longer used because it is a road less traveled now-a-days) to Texas at a young age.
They had the Olds88 about a week and liked it so much they went out and bought a baby blue one for him to pair out the set. Here are pictures. You might find it interesting!
