The marker commemorates the civil war Battle of Wauhatchie so this must be Tennessee. They hadn’t come up with Photoshop yet so it appears Aunt Mary was actually out on that rock. I can’t imagine her doing that but there she is.

Somewhere betwixt and between babyhood and childhood in little bits and pieces,(Mon and Dad) Peggy and Ray, Jill and I spent the night with Aunt Mary and Uncle Sheldon in Saint Louis Missouri. I don’t remember Nell, Henry or Louise But it must have been about 1941 (just guessing)
Sometimes these times get tangled with memories of their living on West Kings Highway here in San Antonio before buying their 40 acre farm in Wetmore and building most of my young adult memories of them. I remember the long porch facing West for watching the sunset while Aunt Mary played the piano beautifully in the living room and their pantry was bigger than my bedroom.
And you could get 100 lighting bugs in a mason jar!
