Sounds like a good scrabble word. But it’s the law in Iran that allows “an eye for an eye” type of punishments. Recently a woman who was disfigured and blinded by an acid attack decided not to go through with the decision granted her to see have her attacker blinded with acid in one eye as she watched. She said the forgives him.
What would you do? What would I do?
I don’t think anyone knows til they’re right there.
I’ve seen many injustices go unpunished, and often thought that personal vengeance is a reasonable response. Now, I’m not so sure.
It’s probably good that our laws are carried out by dis-interested third parties. Society doesn’t need for punishments to be stopped because of kindness or fear on the part of the victim.
Oh wait, happens with domestic violence all the time. Never mind.
