Jammin’ in the streets @ The Austin Marathon

I got the opportunity to play on the course of the Austin Marathon yesterday with the full band, setting up at the corner of 24th and Guadalupe (the drag, UT campus) and playing from 9-1. It was a great time, and a change from playing the usual club or private party…the audience is only around for maybe twenty seconds of a song as they approach the sound of the PA, and then run by, and that is if they weren’t wearing ipods to hear. Many runners were very grateful yelling at us and saying thanks as they ran by and many singing along, and getting that burst of energy as they’re hearing us. It was strange, because there are people around cheering on the runners, but the runners were cheering and praising us for playing for them.
