The first thing I need to bring to your attention is happening this Friday at the Green Mesquite in Austin. Uncle Mitchy will be joined by Joe Reyes and Michael Guerra from 7:00-9:30 for some sweet trio action!
Grammy Award winner and all around good guy, Joe Reyes on guitar. The multifaceted Michael Guerra from the Tex Mex Experience, Tex Maniacs and Sir Douglas Quintet 2 on accordion! But that’s not all folks.. you get me, Uncle Mitchy on guitar, vocals and SPOONS! We sound just like Hee-Haw from the West Side. That’s East Side for you Austinites.
Hello kids! Well, my leg is pretty much healed up and I’ve been given the clearance to get back into the living world. I’m gonna be up in Austin for the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance from Wednesday thru Friday trying to dupe all the folk aficionados into hiring me for gigs. For all you weirdo hardcore Uncle Mitchy fans, Wednesday night, I’ll sing one song at Threadgill’s somewhere between 7 and 10. Good luck on catching me!

Hello everyone,
I just got back from the post op examination and I’m feeling good. My leg is doing well also. It looks a little funky with discoloration, swelling and old school stitches (just like Randolph Air Force Base used to give!) however, it feels like a legitimate leg. I can bend the knee and I’m approved for full weight bearing. Band mates, don’t get any ideas, I still need you to put the PA up on Friday. My ankles and toes already feel much more human. I can clench my toes finally and the ankle is already smoother to rotate. No anti-inflammatory drugs yet Aunt Becky! No Physical Therapy yet Aunt Kathy!

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… what happened to Uncle Mitchy? The guy who never plays SXSW. The guy that has no illusions of grandeur, only looks for the smallest smokiest dives in Texas to play and then makes sure no one knows about it.

2008 was a good year for us Swindle guys! We finally got that 1000 pound gorilla off our back called The Last Band At TacoLand. We also released our cd Lonely Kind which did really well and landed us way up in the AMA and FAR charts! We made lot of new friends from all over the world and we hope to be meeting all of you in the flesh this coming year!

Thursday November 6th at Casbeers Church! Casbeer’s annual Doug Sahm birthday tribute will be down at the church, a really good lineup of all San Antonio musicians are ready to go!
