The family

The family

We got back Sunday morning from a 7 day cruise of the Eastern Mediterranean. I went with my mom, sister and brother-in-law, Greg. We started in Venice, Italy; moved to Split, Croatia; then Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos and Iraklion in the Greek Isles. (in the pic we’re in Croatia) It was a lovely trip…for the most part. I loved Venice and Croatia! They were so pretty and we saw some really neat things. But the best part of the Greek Isles was the food and the sunset in Santorini. They really weren’t much to look at as far as landscape is concerned. They’re all dessert-y, volcanic-y rocks- so they aren’t lush and green as one is lead to believe. But the food was awesome. The tomatoes were amazing and we had Gyros the way you’re supposed to. They’re like open faced yummy yummy Greek tacos! The all the traditional alcohols were bitter there so we stuck to our own supplies in that regard. The oceans all over the prettiest blue and in pictures where you can actually see my eyes (and my mom’s) they look just as blue- that was cool. I plan to write more on my blog about it later but wanted to just give a quick photo update to y’all today. I’m still on Mediterranean time meaning it’s late-afternoon nap time but in reality it’s not even lunch yet at my first day back at work.

The Storm

Last night we had our soft-opening of mama’s Summer Swimming Parties but the weather apparently did not want to cooperate. Around 8 the sky got really dark and the winds started to get gusty. Around 8:15 we decided we should all try to get home so we didn’t get stuck. The moment I got on

Here is the video of the Decemberists song Bruce sang in the song circle the other night. It’s a totally fun song and here’s a cute video for it too.

Late Resolutions or Just Some Good Rules to Live By

January 27th, 2010 @ 09:46
Posted by: Tyler

Now that January is almost over, hopefully everyone has their resolutions in order. Thanks to a friendly co-worker who sent this to me in an email – I think these are some great jumping off points for how to always live, but even better to start the year off right by doing them. Try to pick at least 2 from each category and make it a point to do those things all the time. I’d love to make some of them mandatory for my office.. but since I can’t I’ll just share with as many people as possible.

Health:

1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
4. Live with the 3 E’s – Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy.
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games.
7. Read more books than you did in 2009.
8. Sit in silence for at 10 minutes each day.
9. Sleep for 7 hours
10. Take a 10-30 minute walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:

1. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is about.
2.

Comment on the Blog! Don’t Just Drive By

I try to only follow about 10 blogs, because anymore than that and my head gets fuzzy, but a lot of the blogs I follow are about Social Media and how to use social media better. After a while I hope to know it all! But one of my faves that often talks about social media in my field is The Social Path. All month they’ve been doing doing daily tips and how to’s for improving your online social life. It’s been really helpful. I’ve been deleting old accounts, cleaning up my Facebook Privacy Settings, clearing out Twitterbots and more. Today’s was no exception as it was telling me to comment on blog posts and all the reasons why you should. Like I said I follow about 10 blogs at a time and

When I was in Elementary School I remember always seeing the ads on TV for “Save the Music”. Musicians and artists would come on TV for PSAs talking about schools cutting music programs due to costs and such. I never really knew what they were talking about because my elementary and middle schools all had very strong music programs that I was very much involved in. When I went to High School it was another story. I went to the North East School of the Arts (NESA) at Robert E. Lee (I also went to ISA but that’s another story). At NESA I was a musical theatre major in a class of 17. From the start of the program we were trained by amazing teachers. Mrs. Bianco, our voice teacher, was an amazing performer and great teacher, she helped all of us find things in our voices that

Tonight is the premiere of New Moon the second movie in the Twilight Saga that has girls and guys of all ages across the country bouncing up and down all day in anticipation. Two months ago I bought tickets to the midnight showing online- the day those tickets became available- within 3 hours the first round of midnight showings were sold out and Fandango started posting 12:05, 12:15 and 12:30 showings. Within a week all were sold out and they started adding 3 AM showings. Apparently this makes New Moon the top seller EVER in advanced ticket sales beating out Star Wars Episode 3 (which I also saw at Midnight).

Last year they got married on the beach with just family and Saturday they got to celebrate with all their friends! Here’s wishing them many more anniversaries to come! The picture with the vail is last year and the one with her crying was Saturday night during her and Greg’s first dance to Blue October’s acoustic version of “Calling You”… it was a great reception and everyone had a great time.
